The Grass-Fed Beef Rancher

Words from a friend:

Dear John,

Concerning your statement:

“Love must be greater than our fears or it is not love at all, merely a weak compassion or sympathy.”

A mouthful, for sure.

And love that is not greater than our lust, or sloth, is also something else, I’d think.

After a series of breath taking prophetic experiences yesterday, a young woman came to buy a side of beef, and made it all seem “trifling” by comparison.

She had her loud, drooling, uncoordinated, 14 year old retarded son with her. SHE DIDN’T LEAVE HIM IN THE VEHICLE. In spite of the 7 steps up to the porch, she brought him right in our home. He cried out often and walked, in his stumbling fashion, all over our home, (she had to use the bathroom). I felt great embarrassment for her. It was wasted. She was not embarrassed. Just me. I felt horror at even having to consider how she lived every day, chained to him.

She, however, was from another Kingdom. She felt only great love and pleasure in the presence of her much beloved child. She laughed heartily, joyfully, four different times while she was here. I know. I counted them.

I “felt” the whisper of His Spirit say to me: “Wouldn’t you be the same way if that was your 14 year old, Sky?” I said, “But of course; but that’s different. You know how unique, how huge my love is for her.” I’m pretty sure you know what His response was.

I have a friend, an older lady, who is addicted to tobacco and gambling and who runs from one lust to the other with ever diminishing gratification forthcoming.  She would think this boy’s mother lives in Hell. The mother would think the older lady lives in Hell.

God is building a Kingdom of Love, to be populated by lovers, volunteers all. (Psalm 110)

“And the greatest of these is love.”
